UNHCR GCC is the regional office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, serving the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman. Based in Riyadh, the office coordinates UNHCR activities across the region and employs between 51 to 200 staff members. It focuses on refugee protection, emergency response, and building partnerships, despite the GCC states not being signatories to the 1951 Refugee Convention. The office has a significant presence in the UAE, where it has operated since 1986, collaborating with the government on various global refugee support projects.
