Taweelah RO is the largest seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant in the world, located at the Taweelah Power and Water Complex in the UAE. Operated by Taweelah RO Desalination Company LLC, the facility is a joint venture with 60% ownership by Emirati entities Mubadala and AD Power, and 40% by Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power. The plant began construction in 2019 and achieved full operations in 2023, utilizing advanced technologies to enhance energy efficiency and reduce emissions. With a net capacity of 200 million imperial gallons per day, Taweelah RO supplies potable water to over 350,000 households and industries, fulfilling about 90% of the UAE's water needs.
