About the Company

Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) is the largest state-owned railway operator in the Middle East, established in 2006 by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. SAR was created to develop, own, and operate the Kingdom's railway networks for both passenger and freight services. Its history dates back to 1947, with the construction of the first railway line, and it has since evolved to manage modern expansions, including the North-South railway and the Haramain High-Speed Railway. SAR operates four main rail networks, focusing on freight and passenger transport. The North Train connects northern Saudi Arabia to central and eastern regions, handling minerals freight and passenger services.
