Saudi Green Initiative

The Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) is a national environmental program launched by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It aims to address climate change, enhance quality of life, and protect the planet for future generations. SGI is part of a larger framework that includes the Saudi and Middle East Green Initiatives, focusing on environmental protection, energy transition, and sustainability. SGI has set ambitious targets, including planting 10 billion trees, rehabilitating over 74 million hectares of land, and reducing carbon emissions by 278 million tonnes per annum by 2030. The initiative also aims for net zero emissions by 2060 through a Carbon Circular Economy approach.
