Insurance Regulatory Unit

The Insurance Regulatory Unit (IRU) is a Kuwaiti government body established in February 2020 to oversee and regulate the insurance sector in Kuwait. It operates under Law No. 125 of 2019 and Ministerial Decision No. 43 of 2021. Located at Kamco Invest Tower in Sharq, the IRU is responsible for licensing insurance companies, brokers, and claims managers, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. IRU's core functions include issuing licenses, enforcing compliance, and publishing annual reports and strategic plans. It monitors market activities, including gross written premiums, and provides a public portal for citizen registration and complaint management.
