Gulf Monetary Council

The Gulf Monetary Council (GMCO) is a regional economic organization established in March 2010 and based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It aims to coordinate monetary policies among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and prepare for a future monetary union with a common currency. Membership is exclusive to GCC countries, including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait. GMCO operates under a Board of Directors and an Executive Body, focusing on key objectives such as policy coordination, economic research, and legal affairs. It works to create a unified statistical system, monitor economic data, and support the development of a legal framework for a future Gulf Central Bank.
