About the Company

Albihouth Waste to Energy Plant is Abu Dhabi's first facility dedicated to converting municipal solid waste into renewable electricity. Founded in 2024, the plant is managed by AlBihouth and plays a vital role in the emirate's sustainability strategy, aiming to divert 80% of waste from landfills by 2030 and support the UAE Vision of Net Zero 2050. The facility has a processing capacity of 900,000 tonnes of waste annually and generates 80 MW of renewable energy, enough to meet the electricity needs of 35,000 to 50,000 households. Located near the Al-Dhafra landfill, it utilizes a thermal process to convert waste into steam, which drives a turbine generator.
